Ímanes de alnico
O íman de alnico é composto por alumínio, níquel e cobalto. Este tipo de íman possui uma indução remanescente elevada e uma coercividade baixa. Apresentam uma grande estabilidade a temperaturas extremas, mantendo as suas características magnéticas entre –250 °C e 425 °C. O íman de alnico possui uma elevada indução magnética e é utilizado principalmente em aparelhos de medição e sistemas de deteção por campos magnéticos.
O alnico é um material frágil, que pode ser modificado unicamente durante o processo de fundição. A orientação do material é realizada durante o tratamento térmico, conseguindo assim um campo magnético com a direção de magnetização definida. O seu comportamento relativamente à oxidação é bom.
